About UK Home Energy Guide
We built this site because we were frustrated. When we tried to find out what our own homes needed — insulation, solar, a heat pump — every website either wanted our phone number or tried to sell us something before we'd even understood the problem.
The data was all out there. The government publishes EPC records, energy consumption statistics, grant uptake figures, solar irradiance data. But it's scattered across different departments, in different formats, behind clunky interfaces. Nobody was putting it together in a way that actually helps a homeowner make a decision.
So we did.
What we do
Enter your postcode and we pull your property's EPC data, show you what your home is costing you, and tell you what improvements would make the biggest difference. No forms, no phone calls, no handing over your details.
When you're ready to take action, we show you multiple options — not just one company. You can compare providers for insulation, solar panels, heat pumps, and EPC assessments. We include non-commercial options (government schemes, MCS installer finder, Energy Saving Trust) alongside commercial providers.
How we make money
We earn a commission when you click through to a provider and make a purchase or booking. This is called affiliate marketing. It means:
- •The site is free to use — no subscription, no paywall
- •You never pay more — affiliate commissions come from the provider, not you
- •We label affiliate links clearly — see our affiliate disclosure
We will never recommend something just because it pays us more. If the best option for your home is a government scheme with no commission, we'll tell you that.
Read more about how we calculate savings and choose partners on our methodology page.
Our data sources
Everything on this site comes from official, publicly available data:
- •EPC Register — Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government (MHCLG), Open Government Licence v3.0
- •Scottish EPC Register — via epcdata.scot, sourced from Scottish Government statistics
- •Postcode data — Office for National Statistics via postcodes.io
- •Energy prices — Ofgem quarterly price cap announcements
We don't store your data. We don't build profiles. We don't sell leads. Your postcode search hits the APIs in real time and the results are shown directly to you.
The team
We're a small team based in the UK. Our backgrounds are in data, product management, project management, and marketing. We built this because we believe homeowners deserve better information than they're currently getting.
